Ramadan is a time to learn and to grow spiritually as we all seek to become closer to Allah as a community. In celebration, Friends of Sadr Foundation USA is offering a free book about the holy month titled "Ethics of Fasting" from the beloved Imam Sayed Musa al-Sadr at both the Islamic Center of America in Dearborn and the Islamic House of Wisdom in Dearborn Heights during each Friday prayer, and each nightly program.

A total of 5,000 copies will be available in Arabic at the above locations throughout Ramadan as part of an ongoing project of the Friends of Sadr Foundation to preserve and distribute the teachings of one of the community's most influential and respected teachers, so that his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of the people.

"Imam Sadr wrote more than 40 books and this is just one of the many great works that he produced," said Sadr Foundation board member and public relations representative Rached Masri, who added that his organization has received many requests for his books in both Arabic and English.

"We are honored to provide these books to the community with the help of the Friends of Sadr Foundation, starting with this year's book in Arabic, and inshall'ah every year we will translate one or two books into English as well."

The book will be available at unmanned tables, and a box for voluntary donations will be included.

Masri said that the plan is to produce copies of the book in English by Ramadan 2013, as well as a project for Ashura, through the generous support of Friends of Sadr Foundation USA and other donors.

The Sadr Foundation is a Dearborn-based nonprofit organization that specializes in the care of orphans in need as well as other humanitarian projects.
